JMI Mass Communication Entrance Exam 2017JMI Mass Communication Entrance Exam 2018 - The Anwar Jamal Kidwai (AJK) Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), will conduct the JMI Mass Communication 2018 Entrance Exam in March for admissions to the four MA (Mass Communication) and three PG diploma programmes offered by it. The entrance exam of JMI Mass Communication 2018 will be conducted in an offline mode. Admissions to a total of 170 seats across the various programmes will be offered. Interested candidates will have to fill the application form which will be available from February 2018. Application forms of JMI Mass Communication entrance exam will be available both offline and online. Candidates applying to different programmes will be required to apply separately for each. The exam pattern for each of the tests will be different. JMI Mass Communication admit card will be available for download from March. Candidates who have appeared for the entrance exam can check their JMI Mass Communication Result 2018 tentatively in May. Candidates who qualify will be required to attend a personal interview, group discussion and present their portfolio during the interview. JMI Mass Communication Application Form 2018

 

According to the admission process, candidates will first have to check their eligibility. Eligible candidates can apply for the test by filling the JMI Mass Communication 2018 application forms and submitting it to the officials. Successful applicants will receive the admit card, mentioning the schedule and instructions about the test. Candidates who appear in the test will be shortlisted through merit, determined on the basis of scores obtained in the JMI Mass Communication Entrance Exam 2018. Candidates who have obtained marks less than 30 per cent in the descriptive part of the test will not be shortlisted for further selection procedure. The final selection will comprise Interviews and Group Discussions.

According to the basic eligibility criteria of JMI, graduates in any discipline with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate will be eligible to apply. Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or equivalent in Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/BCA or Engineering with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.

The candidate must have studied Physics and Maths at Sr. Secondary (10+2) level

PG Diploma in Still Photography and Visual Communication

Graduation in any discipline (10+2+3) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

JMI Mass Communication Application Form 2018

 

The application process is online for all courses, except for the PG Diploma in Broadcast Technology programme. Before proceeding to fill the online application form of JMI Mass Comm 2018, candidates must ensure that they have the required details and scanned image files ready.

JMI Mass Communication Admit Card 2018

 

The admit card is likely to be available from the second week of March 2018. JMI 2018 admit card will be available only for the registered candidates in an online mode only. Candidates have to visit the website, login via their registered details and take a print-out of the same. The information about the availability of admit card will be shared on the candidates' registered mobile numbers through SMS. After printing the admit card, a candidate is required to paste their self-attested passport size recent coloured photograph in the space provided and follow the printed instructions on the admit card. Candidates have to carry the admit card with them at the time of JMI exam 2018. Candidates are advised to print two copies of the admit card generated online as they have to provide one admit card to the invigilators at the entrance test centre.

JMI Mass Communication Exam Pattern 2018

 

The test will be conducted in an offline or paper-pen based format only for all the programmes. The test will have two parts - Objective and Subjective - and will have to be completed in 180 minutes. The JMI exam pattern differs for different programmes as explained in the table below.

JMI Mass Communication Result 2018

 

The University will prepare a merit list of candidates based on their performance in the entrance test. The merit list will function as the JMI Mass Communication Result and will be available in online mode only. No intimation to the candidates about the announcement of the results will be sent by post. The list of candidates selected for the interview process will be displayed in ascending order of their Entrance Test Roll No. and will again be displayed online only. The lists of provisionally selected candidates as well as of those on the waiting list for admissions will be displayed online only afterwards.

 

How to check the JMI Result?

The steps to be followed after the announcement of the results are provided below -

4. Click on the link that appears and check your result

5. The result will display order of merit, full name, roll number and overall marks

 

JMI Mass Communication Selection Procedure 2018

 

After the test, students will be shortlisted as per their merit in the results. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for the Interview, Group Discussion and Portfolio rounds. The details of each round are as given below -

 

1. Group Discussion: Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a GD, where a moderator will share the topic and the candidates have to present their view either in favor of the topic or against it.

 

2. Interview: The duration will be 10-20 minutes or more according to the situation. Each candidate is evaluated on the basis of the following broad parameters -

  • Knowledge of contemporary political, social, cultural and economic issues

  • Knowledge of contemporary media

  • Knowledge of film — Fiction and Non-fiction

  • General knowledge and subjects studied at graduation level

  • Visualization skills and creative aptitude

  • Overall Performance (articulation, reasoning, confidence, etc.)

3. Portfolio: Candidates shortlisted for the interview have to carry with them a portfolio that provides documentary proof/evidence of their media related work and extra-curricular activities.

 

The portfolio is evaluated on the basis of the following broad parameters:

  • Proof of production work (audio/visual media-based)

  • Proof of participation in social activities (involvement with NGOs or social organizations)

  • Published work (Articles, stories or other work published in reputed journals and magazines)

  • Proof of internship/work experience with a media house of repute

  • Proof of participation in extra-curricular activities (debating, painting, music, theatre etc.)

  • Proof of online work
