JMI PG Diploma in Broadcast Technology application starts; exam on September 19

JMI-PG-DiplomaThe Anwar Jamal Kidwai (AJK) Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has released a fresh admission notification for its PG Diploma in Broadcast Technology course for the admission year 2017-18. According to the notification, the application forms were made available on August 22, in both online and offline modes. The JMI entrance exam will be conducted in a paper-pen mode on September 19 from 10 am to 1 pm. As per AP Siddiqui, the JMI Registrar, the approval to re-advertise was given by the Shaikhul Jamia (Vice Chancellor) of JMI 'due to lesser number of admissions in the said programme'.


According to the new JMI eligibility criteria, candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree in Physics/Electronic/Computer Science/IT/BCA or Engineering with minimum 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for the JMI entrance exam 2018. Under the eligibility section, the notification further states, “The candidates must have studied Physics and Maths at Senior Secondary (10+2) level.”

The JMI application forms will be available until September 11 in both online and offline modes. Although the application process details are not mentioned in the notification, candidates must ensure they adhere to the following processes for successfully submitting the forms.

Online Process: Before proceeding to fill the online application form, candidates must ensure that they have the required details and scanned image files ready. Candidates need (i) recent passport size colour photograph and (ii) signature.


The entire process of filling the online application form can be completed in six stages. These stages are -


1. Registration on the JMI Entrance Test Portal

2. Selection of the course

3. Filling up the details in the application form which will have following sections:

  • Applicant Details

  • Correspondence Address

  • Your Preference City of Entrance Test Centre

  • Upload scanned image file of your Photograph and Signature [as specified in para 1 above]

  • Final Review of details 

4. Fee Payment & Application Submission

5. Submission of the form


Offline Process: Candidates must visit the campus at Room No. 107, Academic Section, AKJ Mass Communication Research Centre, JMI, pay the application fee and purchase the form. They then have to fill the form with complete and correct information and submit the same at the given address. 


The application fee is Rs. 700 for candidates from all categories. Only registered candidates will be able to download the JMI admit card which will be made available in online mode only. The JMI entrance exam for PG Diploma in Broadcast Technology will be conducted in an offline mode. No change in the exam pattern has been mentioned in the new notification. According to the pattern, the test will have two parts - Objective and Subjective - which will have to be completed in 180 minutes.


The shortlisted candidates will have to attend the subsequent Group discussion and Interview rounds, after which the final result in the form of a merit list will be declared. The classes will commence from September 28, 2017.


The JMI Mass Communication Entrance Exam is conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia's AJK Mass Communication Research Centre for admissions to its media programmes. The test is conducted every year in a paper-pencil based mode for shortlisting candidates for the final admissions. There are a total of 20 seats available for admissions in the Broadcast Technology course.
