About JET Exam 2019

Joint Entrance Test (JET) is conducted in offline mode for candidates who are aspiring to take admission at Film And Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. JET 2019 Registration was started on December 30, 2018 and the end date for filling the application form of JET was February 7, 2019. Before the candidates start filling the JET application form 2019, they must check all the eligibility criteria. The admit card of JET 2019 was available in online mode from February 14, onwards. The result of JET 2019 declared on May 17. Earlier, the authorities had decided to declare the result on April 22, 2019. All the candidates who qualify the JET 2019 entrance exam, they will have to take part in the next stage. Both FTII and SRFTI will first shortlist the candidates on the basis of their performance in JET 2019. In the second stage of the selection, candidates will have to visit the institute and participate in the various activities on the basis of which they will be offered admission. Both the institutes will separately declare the final result of all the candidates who have been offered admission to different courses.

Eligibility criteria of JET 2019 for Sound Recording & Sound Design

Candidates who have completed their graduation in any stream will be eligible to apply. However, they must have studied Physics in 10+2.


JET 2019 eligibility criteria for Art Direction  & Production Design

Candidate should have completed their graduation in any one of the following fields from a recognised institute:

Interior design or related fields in fine art        




Applied Science          

Candidates who have pursued an equivalent  diploma in the given field will also be eligible to appear in JET 2019

The application form of JET 2019 was released by the institute in online mode on December 30, 2018. The last date to apply for the same was February 7, 2019. Candidates had to pay the registration fee for JET 2019 in either online mode, or by using debit or credit card.

JET 2019 admit card was issued by the body which conducted the exam. JET admit card 2019 was available for downloading from  February 14 to 24. Candidates had to download the admit card of JET 2019 by entering any two of the following details:

  •    Online application number    

  •    Date of birth

  •    Email address

Once the JET 2019 admit card appeared on the screen, candidates had to check all the details on it.   Candidates had to take print out of JET admit card 2019. It was mandatory for all the candidates to carry with them the JET admit card to the exam hall. The details that are mentioned in the admit card of JET 2019 includes the name of the candidate, address of JET exam centre, reporting time, space for signature of invigilator, exam day instructions.

The authorities declared the result of FTII JEt 2019 result in online mode on May 17. The result date of JET 2019 was postponed from April 22 to t May 17. Candidates could download their JET 2019 result by logging into their registered account. They had to enter any two of the details -(i) date of birth (ii) roll number (iii) application number. Candidates who cleared the JET 2019, they will receive call letter from the respective institute with regard to all the information pertaining to the next round of selection.

The cutoff of JET 2019 is the minimum marks which candidates need to score to be eligible to apply for admission to SRFTI and FTII. Both the institutes will determine the JET 2019 cutoff by taking into account some of the important factors. Till 2017 FTII used to release the cutoff. However, since 2018 when there is one entrance exam for both the institutes it is not clear if there will be one JET cutoff or both the institutes will have their own cutoff.

Based on JET 2019 score, candidates will receive a call from FTII  for the next round of admission. Both the institutes have their respective selection process. The various steps that are involved in the selection process of JET 2019 include: 

    • Auditions (for candidates who have opted for acting)

    • Orientation 

    • Interview 

    • Medical test 

    • Verification of documents

Medical Examination

According to JET selection process 2019, all the candidates who are shortlisted for the next round of selection, they will have to undergo medical examination. If the candidate fails to clear the medical test, they would not be offered admission.

Verification of Documents

At the time of the selection process of JET 2019, candidates will have to get their documents verified. At the same time they will have to get their original mark sheets as well as attested copies of the same. 

Those candidates who have been offered admission at FTII under JET 2019 selection process, they will have to get the following documents verified: 

Degree Certificates and Mark sheets

    • Caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC (wherever applicable)

    • Class 10th certificate

    • Certificate of disability if applicable 

    • Papers of medical history

Photo Identity Proof

Candidates will have to provide any one of the following photo identity proof at the time of  JET selection process:

    • PAN card

    • Passport

    • Driving license 

    • Voter ID

JET Eligibility Criteria -

The eligibility criteria of JET is a set of parameters prescribed by the university which candidates have to fulfil mandatorily.

  • To be eligible for JET, candidates need to have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from PUC or ISC/ CBSE. They need to have Physics and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects along with any one of the following as third subject - Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subject in their 10+2.

  • Candidates must have secured at least 60% and above in the subjects taken together in PUC/ SYJC/ 12th or equivalent exam to be considered eligible for JET.

  • For those belonging to SC or ST categories, they need to have secured minimum 55% and above in PUC/ SYJC/ 12th or equivalent exam to be eligible.

  • Candidates who are awaiting results of their 10+2 or equivalent exams can also apply for JET.

I have scored 57 with 64.43 percentile in jet for ftti but my name is not in list for next round

Hello Khushal!

The candidates are selected based upon marks and percentile considering cutoff provided, but when alot of candidates secure the same marks and percentile they consider the candidates who have aatained higher marks in other qualifications and academic achievements.But it is possible that there is some other error in the process, I request you to call the helpline numbers and communicate the same with them.

Be hopeful and prepare for the interview round and in the meantime check personaly all the things that might have happened.

Hey ! Ive got a score of 58 and a percentile of 69.28 in acting JET2019.. Will i be able to clear the first stage ?

Hi Udit, the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Insititute, Kolkata are both one of the renowned colleges of art and film production in India. The Joint Entrance Exam (JET) is a multi-stages selection programme and for pursuing your eduation in these colleges, you need to pass in all the required stages. 

This year the FTII hosted the JET 2019 on 24th February in 2 sessions across 26 centres in India. The results of JET 2019 has already been declared on 17th May. You can check it in https://www.applyadmission.net/jet2019/ResultWrittenTest_JET2019.aspx using your registered application number, Date of Birth and Roll Number. 

As it seems that your result has already been declared, you can confirm your status for clearing the first stage. 69.28 percentile is a good result, but every year the selection criteria changes according to the average performance.
