About MICAT 2020

MICA, Ahmedabad will release the MICAT 2020 result for phase 1 on December 23 in online mode. MICAT 2020 for phase 1 was held on December 7. The authorities had released the MICAT 2020 admit card on December 3 in online mode. The authorities started the registration process for MICAT II on November 27, 2019 and the end date for the same is January 16, 2020.  The authorities extended the last date for filling MICAT I 2020 application form from November 25 to 26 (11:59 pm). Admissions to the Post Graduate Diploma Management programmes in Communications, Marketing, Branding, Design and Digital Transformation will be on the basis of MICAT scores. MICAT 2020 Phase II will be held on January 25 with the admit card release date being January 22, 2020. MICAT scores II will be available on February 14. List of shortlisted candidates will be available on February 14 with interviews and group discussions as per the given schedule below. MICA, the conducted body of MICAT prescribed the eligibility criteria of the entrance exam. Hence, it is important that candidates check the complete eligibility criteria of MICAT 2020 before filling the application form.

MICAT 2020 eligibility criteria includes many parameters like age, qualifying exam, passing year etc.

According to MICAT eligibility criteria 2020, candidates will have to:

  • Be graduates in any stream (10+2+3) or must have any equivalent qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities

The release date for the application form of MICAT Phase II is November 27, 2019. Candidates can fill the application form till Janary 16, 2020. Candidates have to fill all the necessary information in the MICAT application form and submit it on or before the last date. Before filling the application form, candidates must read the eligibility criteria of MICAT 2020.

Steps given below to fill the MICAT 2020 application form:

Step 1- Registration for MICAT: Firstly, Candidates have to register by using their valid email address and password.

Step 2- Fill an application form of MICAT 2020: After registration, candidates have to fill all the information such as personal details, academic details, work experience (if any) and select at least three preferred exam centres from the list available. Candidates have to select the city where they would like to present for the group exercise and personal interview.

Step 3- Exam selection: Candidates are select the exam in which they would appear - 

(i) CAT 2019 

(ii) XAT 2020 

(iii) GMAT (2018 onwards)

Step 4- Upload Photo and Signature: Candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature with a file size not more than 80 KB and in jpg or jpeg format.

Step 5- Application fee payment: Rs 1985 has to be paid by an applicant online through the following modes

  • Debit Card

  • Credit Card

  • Net Banking

Step 6- Submission of MICAT application form: Candidates have to click on the submit button, after fee payment.

The MICAT 2020 result phase 1 will be declared on December 23, 2019. MICAT result 2020 will be declared by the authorities in the form of scores in online mode. Candidates can check their MICAT 2020 result by logging in using their login credentials.

How to check MICAT 2020 result ? 

  • Visit the official website of MICAT (www.mica.ac.in)     

  • Enter MICAT application number and password

  • Click on 'Get Result'

  • The result of MICAT I 2020 will appear on the screen

  • Check the information mentioned over it and download it

  • Take a print out and keep it safe

MICAT result 2020 Phase II will be declared on January 14. The final results of MICAT will be declared by March 31, 2020. The MICAT final result will be computed after the GE and PI rounds are completed. Selection i.e. final MICAT result will be on the basis of the MICAT scores, performance in GE & PI.

The minimum marks needed to be eligible for the next round of selection is defined as MICAT cutoff 2020. The officials will follow certain parameters while preparing the cutoff of MICAT 2020. 

These parameters are:

  • Total number of seats available

  • Total number of candidates appeared

  • Previous years’ MICAT cutoff trends

  • Difficulty level of the exam

MICA has not announced any cutoff in terms of relative marks for candidates to gauge. However, past year cutoffs have been used to estimate the expected MICAT cutoff

Candidates who have appeared for the entrance exam may know that MICAT selection process has four steps as explained below:

Step-I: Valid Scores in CAT 2019/ XAT 2020/GMAT (2018 onwards).

All applicants must have a valid score in any one - CAT 2019/ XAT 2020 /GMAT (2018 onwards). The scores of these exams will be considered in compilation of the final merit list. The CAT score/ XAT registration or GMAT score as the case may be has to be updated in the online application form of MICAT. In case of XAT, the score is directly collected from XLRI.

Step-II: MICA Admission Test (MICAT 2020).

MICAT is the computer based test held in exam centres  across 48 cities in the country. The test has three sections as mentioned below

  • Section A: Psychometric Test

  • Section B: (has 4 sub-sections) - Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation, General awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking

  • Section C: Descriptive Test.

Step-III: Group Exercise & Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI) on the basis of their performance in CAT/ XAT/GMAT and MICAT in the ratio of 50:50.

Step-IV: Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of the final composite score compiled as follows

  • CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%

  • MICAT: 30%

  • GE: 20%

  • PI: 30%

How will candidates be shortlisted for GE & PI rounds?

  1. For GE & PI, the Psychometric test will be the first step to qualify.

  2. Those who will qualify in the Psychometric test, their CAT/XAT/GMAT performance will be taken into consideration 

  3. Those who will qualify based on the CAT/XAT cutoff or GMAT score will further be assessed on the following MICAT sections: Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QADI), General Awareness (GA), and Divergent and Convergent Thinking (DCT).

  4. Those candidates who will qualify on the basis of performance subject to a minimum cutoff in a scaled score for each of these sections (namely: VA, QADI, GA and DCT) and CAT/XAT cut-off or GMAT scores will have their Descriptive Tests analysed for selection.

Note: The list of qualified candidates will be prepared on the basis of scores of both phases of MICAT 2020 entrance exam if a candidate has taken both MICAT-I and MICAT-II.

MICAT Fee Structure (official)

Candidates who are selected may need to know the MICAT 2020 fee structure which has to be announced by the authorities. However, the fee structure of MICAT in 2019 can be used to get an estimate of the amount required to study the course. An amount of 20,00,000 approx will have to be paid by students. This is inclusive of Tuition Fees, Residential Charges, Infrastructure Facility Charges etc.

MICAT 2020 GD and PI Process

Candidates who will be shortlisted based on their performance in  CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT, they will have to appear in both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI).

MICAT Shortlisting Criteria for GE & PI

  1. Section A of MICAT which is the Psychometric test is a qualifier.

  2. The relative performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered for candidates who have qualified in the Psychometric section. 

  3. Candidates whose CAT score /XAT total percentile/GMAT score match the specified minimum cutoff will be shortlisted

  4. Next performance in MICAT 2020 Section B will be assessed.

  5. Candidates who score marks equal or above a minimum cut-off for Section B of MICAT will be subject to assessment of their performance in MICAT Section C. 

  6. It is to be noted that each section will have its own cut-off and candidates who meet this will be eligible for the next round of selection.

  7. Those who qualify on the basis of a, b, c and d shall be short listed for GE and PI. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & Mumbai are the places where the GE and PI will be conducted.

  8. Shortlisting for GE & PI candidate list is prepared on the Composite Score formula of 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT scores

The names of candidates will be given in the merit list, their final composite score will be created prepared on the following weightage:

  • CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%

  • MICAT: 30%

  • GE: 20%

  • PI: 30%

i have a query in filling the micat form. i am from icse board where best of five used to be calculated for 10. and best of 4 for 12. are we supposed to give that or the aggregate marks? PLEASE HELP ITS URGENT

Hi there,

As per my knowledge the MICAT-I application form is out and the last date for filling the form is 25th November 2019.


For filling the academic details the aspirant should have atleast 50% in his undergrads and around 65% and above in his class XII and class 10.

* Marks should be in percentage

The Aggregate of marks is considered and not something like Best of 4 or 5 subjects.

MICA Ahmedabad will release MICAT I 2020 application form in online mode in September 2019 with last date being in third week of November 2019.

MICAT is conducted twice in online mode for the various programmes that are offered at the institute.

The fee for MICAT 2020 application form is Rs. 1985 for all the categories.

MICAT II 2020 application form in third week of December 2019. The end date to fill the application form will be last week of January 2020.

Hello Prachi Tiwari, if you had registered for the first round of counseling for DTE MP MBA, then there is no need to register again for the next rounds of counseling. As the candidate who are unable to get a seat in previous rounds are automatically eligible for the next rounds.
