About MICAT 2019

MICAT 2019, the entrance exam conducted by MICA, Ahmedabad will help candidates get admission to its Post Graduate Diploma in Management Communications (PGDM-C) programme. It is important to note that MICAT 2019 was conducted in two attempts, MICAT-1 being the first one was held on December 1, 2018. MICAT II was conducted on February 9, 2019. The application form of MICAT 2019 for the first attempt was available from August 24 and the last date for filling it was November 20. MICAT II application form was available from December 20, 2018 to January 30, 2019. It is advisable that candidates first check the complete eligibility criteria of MICAT 2019 and then only proceed to fill the application form. Candidates are required to fill all the details  in MICAT application form 2019 and submit it on or before the last date. The admit card of MICAT 2019 for the first attempt was released on November 26. The admit card for MICAT II 2019 was available from February 4, 2019.  The authorities announced the result of MICAT II 2019 in online mode on February 19. The qualified candidates of the entrance exam will have to participate in the selection procedure of MICAT which includes group exercise and personal interview. Candidates who will qualify all the stages of entrance exam will be offered admissions further.

The authorities of MICAT 2019  prescribed the eligibility criteria of the entrance exam and candidates have to adhere to it to not get their application forms rejected. Therefore, it is important that they check the complete eligibility criteria of MICAT 2019 before filling the application form.

MICAT 2019 eligibility criteria includes parameters like age, qualifying exam, passing year etc.

According to MICAT eligibility criteria 2019, candidates will have to:

  • Be graduates in any stream (10+2+3) or possess any equivalent qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities
  • Possess valid scores in any one of the following entrance exams:

        1 - CAT 2019

        2 - XAT 2019

        3 - GMAT 2017 (onwards)

  • Score 600 plus in GMAT
  • Possess a valid passport, if a foreign national applying for the exam
  • Have a valid GMAT score, if an NRI applying for the exam
  • Be a student who is in the final year of graduation

However, candidates who can demonstrate an aptitude for expressing, assessing, and conceiving ideas that force people to action and achieve their business results have a better chance of being shortlisted.

The application form of MICAT II 2019 was available from December 20 in online mode and the last date for filling it was January 30. Candidates have to fill all the details required in the MICAT application form and submit it on or before the last date.

Candidates have to follow the steps given below to fill MICAT 2019 application form:

Step 1- Registration: Candidates are required to first register by using their valid email address and password.

Step 2- Filling of details: After registration, candidates have to fill their personal information, academic details, work experience (if any) and select at least three preferred exam centres from the list available.

Candidates have to select the city where they would like to appear for the group exercise and personal interview.

Step 3- Exam selection: Candidates are required to select the exam in which they would appear - (i) CAT 2019 (ii) XAT 2019 (iii) GMAT (2017 onwards)

Step 4- Documents uploading: Candidates have  to upload their scanned photograph and signature with file size not more than 80 KB and in jpg or jpeg format.

Step 5- Application fee payment: After filling all the details and uploading the documents required, candidates have to pay the requisite MICAT 2019 application fee of Rs 1985 via online mode.

Step 6Submission: Candidates had to click on the submit button, after fee payment.

The result of MICAT-II 2019 was declared by the authorities in the form of scores in online mode on February 19. Candidates were  able to check their MICAT result 2019 by logging in using their application number.

The minimum marks required to be eligible for next round of selection is defined as MICAT cutoff 2019. The authorities will follow certain parameters while preparing the cutoff of MICAT 2019. These parameters are:

  • Total number of seats available
  • Total number of candidates appeared
  • Previous years’ cutoff tends
  • Difficulty level of the exam

The selection process of MICAT 2019 involves three steps in total. 

Step 1 - CAT/ XAT/ GMAT

Candidates need to have appeared in any of the above mentioned entrance exams and have obtained valid scores.

Step 2 - MICA Admission Test (MICAT)

Candidates will be assessed on their scores in MICAT entrance exam.

Step 3 – Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates who will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT/ XAT/ GMAT and MICAT entrance exam will have to appear for both GE & PI.

How will candidates be shortlisted for GE & PI?

  1. For GE & PI, the Psychometric test will be a qualifier.
  2. Those who will qualify in the Psychometric test, their CAT/XAT/GMAT performance will be taken into consideration 
  3. Those who will qualify based on the CAT/XAT cutoff or GMAT score will further be assessed on the following MICAT sections: Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QADI), General Awareness (GA), and Divergent and Convergent Thinking (DCT).
  4. Those candidates who will qualify on the basis of performance subject to a minimum cutoff in Scaled Score for each of these sections (namely: VA, QADI, GA and DCT) and CAT/XAT cut-off or GMAT scores will have their Descriptive Tests evaluated for selection.
  5. Candidates who will qualify on the basis of above four points mentioned and on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cutoff in scaled score in DT will be shortlisted for GE and PI.

Note: The list of shortlisted candidates will be prepared on the basis of scores of both phases of MICAT 2019 exam, if a candidate has taken both MICAT-I and MICAT-II.
