MICAT 2021 - MICA, Ahmedabad has announced the MICAT 2021 final merit list on May 11 through email. Candidates who have appeared in the GD and PI round can check their qualifying status on the MICAT final merit list. The institute released the MICAT phase 1 and phase 2 score card on December 21 and February 15, respectively in online mode. MICAT Phase 1 and Phase 2 exam 2021 was held on December 5, 2020 and January 30, 2021. MICA exam is held for admission to 36 PGDM and 180 PGDM-C seats at Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad. MICA Ahmedabad conducts MICAT twice a year – in December and January. For phase I, candidates could fill the application form of MICAT 2021 until November 25 (11:50 pm). The official name given to both the exams held in December and January is named MICAT-I and MICAT-II. Aspiring candidates are free to take up the exam in either of the sessions or both the sessions. Over 4000 candidates register for appearing in each session of MICAT ever year. What is MICAT?
MICAT is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by the MICA, Ahmedabad twice in a year for admission to its flagship two-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Communications (PGDM-C) programme. MICAT entrance exam is conducted online for the aspirants in the months of December and February. Candidates may write both MICAT I and II or only MICAT-I or MICAT-II. In case candidates take both MICAT-1 and MICAT-II, then section A, B, and C may not appear in the same order. If candidates have taken more than one exam out of CAT, XAT, GMAT, then the better of the two/best of the three exams' performance will be taken into account. MICA will filter approximately 1/10th of the total number of appeared candidates in the two MICATs for GE & PI based on CAT/XAT/GMAT and the total MICAT score.
Every year around 4000-4700 candidates apply for appearing in each of the sessions of MICAT, whereas 700-800 candidates are finally able to crack the examination, securing the MICAT cut off marks. In other words, over 17-18% candidates are able to finally make it to the next round of MICAT selection process. Since last year, the MICA, Ahmedabad has given the facility to the applicants to choose both the programmes (PGDM and PGDM-C) in the same application form of MICAT 2021. However, to do so, the aspiring candidates have to select the programmes in order of their preference – priority 1 and priority 2.
MICA Ahmedabad or Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad determines the eligibility criteria for MICAT-I and MICAT-II. It’s quite important that the MICAT eligibility is checked before registering for MICAT, as all aspiring candidates get to know if they are eligible for the examination at all. To appear in MICAT exam, candidates should have completed/passed or should be appearing in the final year of graduation in any discipline. However, the degree should be recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Additionally, the aspirants must have taken any one of these entrance exams – CAT 2020/XAT 2021/GMAT 2019 onwards. With having appeared and qualifying these exams, candidates can’t sit for MICAT.

The MICA, Ahmedabad authorities have released the MICAT II application form 2021 from November 26, 2020, in online mode. The MICAT 2021 application form has been released on the official website of MICA Ahmedabad, i.e, mica.ac.in. Before interested candidates start to fill the MICAT application form 2021, they must be clear that all eligibility requirements must be met. Also, before MICAT registration 2021, candidates must keep all the requisite documents with them so that during the application filling process they don’t have to leave some stages incomplete midway and then collect the required documents. Stage 1 – Registration – Get yourself registered for MICAT-I 2021 by using the name, email ID and mobile number.
Stage 2 – Log in and fill personal details – Fill in details like nationality, gender, date of birth and select three MICAT exam centres in order of your preference.
Stage 3 – Enter qualification details – Fill in educational details related to different levels of academics and work experience.
Stage 4 – Enter CAT/XAT/GMAT scores – At this stage, enter scores of the respective exam/s you have taken out of CAT/XAT/GMAT.
Stage 5 – Upload documents – Scanned images of the photograph and signature have to be uploaded as per the prescribed size and dimensions.
Stage 6 – Fee payment – An application fee of Rs. 1985 has to be paid online through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking or offline through DD in favour of MICA payable at Ahmedabad.
Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad does not officially come up with any detailed syllabus of MICAT, however, candidates can have a clear understanding of the topics from where the questions in the actual exam would be asked. The admit card of MICAT-Phase 2 was released on January 27, 2021. As per the 2020 test-takers, the English section was easy, Maths was moderate and general knowledge section was the toughest. In the quantitative section, trigonometry had the maximum sectional weightage as 8 questions were asked from trigonometry only. MICAT Phase 2 result has been released on February 15, 2021. Candidates who have taken the examination can check their scores in the MICAT exam 2021 by logging into the MICAT candidate accounts. MICA Ahmedabad does not officially release the MICAT cut off, however, the minimum marks for qualifying in all the stages of the MICAT are determined by the institute. MICAT cut off 2021 will be the minimum marks that candidates need to secure in each of the exam/selection stages to be considered for the subsequent stage. MICAT 2021 cutoff marks include the minimum marks to be secured in CAT/XAT/GMAT, MICAT, GD and PI.
The qualified candidates of MICAT exam have to further sit for GE and PI for MICAT selection. Candidates reflecting aptitude for expressing, assessing, and/or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results stand a better chance for shortlisting. If we start from the very beginning, then MICAT selection process involves 3-stages – qualifying CAT/XAT/GMAT, MICA Admission Test (MICAT) and GE & PI. Step-I: CAT/ XAT/GMAT – One of these three exams has to be taken by the candidates and secure the cut off/positive scores. Based on these exams, candidates have to apply for MICAT 2021 and enter the CAT/GMAT scores and XAT registration number while filling the application form of MICAT 2021.
Step-II: MICA Admission Test (MICAT) – Candidates, in the second stage need to take MICAT exam conducted by MICA Ahmedabad.
Test takers are assessed on MICAT, which consists of 3 sections
Section A: Psychometric Test
Section B: (has 4 sub-sections) - Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General awareness; Divergent and Convergent Thinking
Section C: Descriptive Test
Step-III: GE & PI: Qualified candidates based on their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT have to further appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI).
Section A of MICAT (Psychometric test) is a qualifier.
It must be noted that only those candidates’ relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT will be considered who qualify the psychometric test. There are different parameters for the inclusion of the candidates for the further selection process. For considering the minimum cut off in CAT/XAT total percentile is considered, while for GMAT, the scores are considered.
Candidates, who qualify based on the performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT, their section B of MICAT will be assessed.
Further, qualifying candidates based on their relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off (as per the *normalized scores) of section B of MICAT will be assessed for their section C of MICAT. Each section will have its own cutoff.
Those, who qualify on the basis of points 1, 2, 3 and 4 above (on the basis of relative performance subject to a minimum cutoff (as per normalized scores) of section C of MICAT) shall be considered for shortlisting for GE and PI. Shortlisted candidates at this stage will be called for GE and PI at the different campuses - Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata & Mumbai. (GE & PI candidate list is prepared on the basis of the composite score formula of 50% weightage of CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% weightage of MICAT scores)
The shortlisted candidates (who appear in GE & PI) are considered for the inclusion in the final merit list are required to be recommended by the majority of the panelists of PI. Further, the final composite score for such candidates shall be calculated based on the following weightage:

GE: 20%
