They say, “The more a person knows, the better armed he is.” This axiom resonates aptly even with an exam like situation wherein a better knowledge will always help the candidates ace than the others. Not only about the syllabus of the paper, but factors which directly or indirectly influence the exam result. Let’s pick up MICAT for instance. As MICAT 2020 (January session) is round the corner, registered candidates must be burning the midnight’s oil to give their best shot in the examination. However, as the test is nearing, candidates should be aware about the dos and don’ts of MICAT II 2020. MICAT 2020

MICA Admissions Test (MICAT) is a national level online entrance test for MICA's flagship programme Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C). The test is held twice a year - in December and in January every year.

MICAT Exam Day Guidelines 2020

  • Candidates must carry their MICAT 2020 admit card with them on the day of the exam. In case admit card is not received by post, you can download the hall ticket from the MICA website (mica.ac.in) and print it on a white A4 size sheet.

  • Candidates will have to carry the printout of MICAT admit card along with any of the following valid identity proofs:

    • Voter ID

    • Driving License

    • Aadhaar Card (UID)

    • Pan Card

    • College/ Institute Identity card 2019

    • Candidates should also bring a ball point pen to the exam centre.

  • Candidates are not allowed to carry with them any of the following electronic devices to the exam centre:

    • Laptops

    • Calculators

    • Cell phones

    • Cameras

    • Beepers,

    • Digital diaries

    • Bags

    • Notebook

    • Any electronic equipment or pieces of paper are not allowed in the exam center.

  • Candidates must remember that they will not be allowed to leave the examination hall until the test is over.

  • Candidates will not be allowed to leave the MICAT exam centre till the exam is completed

  • If the candidate leaves the exam hall, then he or she will not be permitted to re-enter the examination hall.

  • Paper for rough work will be given at the exam centre.

  • Candidates will have to sign the attendance sheet and admit card in the presence of the invigilator.Time yourself when you write, since there is sectional cutoff and you must attempt all sections in order to qualify.

  • VARC, QA, LR and Psychometric Tests are the most important sections and carry the highest mark.

  • Start with the sections you are confident about.

  • Be careful when you mark answers in the answer sheet. Best is to solve a section and tick all the correct answers in order to avoid any confusion.

Note: Carrying any one of the above-mentioned photo identity proofs is mandatory for candidates. Those who will not carry the admit card along with the identity proof, they will not be permitted to appear in the exam.

Points to Remember Ahead for MICAT Exam

  1. Do your reading practice on the computer. Reading newspapers and business articles are not enough. You need to develop a habit of reading on screen. This will be beneficial in the reading comprehension (RC) section, as you will be able to save considerable time.

  2. Practice sample questions online to analyse time spent on each question and strategize much time you will be spending on a particular section.

  3. Ahead of the exam, do not study anything new

  4. Focus more on revision of whatever you have studied

  5. Keep your mind relaxed as panicking now will not be beneficial

  6. Practice solving the online mock test. The more you get used to working on a computer screen, the better it is.

MICAT Exam Pattern Instructions

  • There are a total of 105 approximately questions.

  • There are 3 main sections with 4 sub parts for 1 section.

  • The number of questions under each section:

    • Descriptive Test - 4

    • Verbal Ability (VA) - 25

    • Quantitative Ability (QA)- 25

    • General Awareness (GA) - 25

    • Divergent-Convergent Reasoning (DCR) - 26

    • Psychometric Test (DT) - 160

  • The negative marking is ¼ of the total marks allocated for a particular question.

GMAT is graduate management admission test which is conducted by GMAC for admission of MBA in many countries, the eligibility criteria regarding this is as follows;

Candidates needs to be 18 years old or above,

Pass bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university, those in the final year or working professionals too are eligible to apply,

Should have a valid passport,

As the exam is conducted in English, hence proficiency in the same language is required as well,

Candidate can take maximum of five attempts in a year, and overall 8 attempts for lifetime, and there has to be a gap of 16 days prior to retaking the exam,

CMAT is conducted for 180 minutes, and additional 30 minutes is allotted for optional section, there are total of five sections(one is optional) and each one consists of 25 questions for 100 marks as mentioned below-

  • Quantitative techniques and data interpretation
  • Logical reasoning
  • General awareness
  • Language comprehension
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship (optional)

for each correct answer four marks are awarded and in case of each incorrect attempt one mark is deduced,

On February 17, 2022, MICA, Ahmedabad, announced the MICAT 2022 result for phase 2 on mica.ac.in. Using their login credentials, candidates may check the MICAT 2022 phase 2 result. MICAT result 2022 has been emailed to applicants' registered email addresses, and students who took the entrance exam can now verify their qualifying status.

To check the result, follow the below mentioned steps:

Visit MICA Ahmedabad's main website at mica.ac.in.

Select "MICAT 1 Result" from the drop-down menu.

On the screen, a candidate login window will display.

Click the "Login" tab after entering the user ID and password.

Download the MICAT scorecard 2022 and check your qualifying status.

MICAT Syllabus  - Psychometric Test


Basically, this is a personality test and this section is different from other management entrance examinations. It is mandatory for the candidates to attempt all the questions in this section. Some of the important aspects related to the test are explained below.


In this section, the questions are designed to assess the candidates’ behavior which includes thinking ability, personality, strengths and weaknesses etc. Questions are based on career goals, life goals, situational judgement. Candidates should answer the questions with honesty and open mind


Multiple-choice questions are asked.


Duration allotted for the psychometric test is 25 minutes.


According to previous year sample papers, in the first set of questions, out of the three options candidates should select the option which describes their behavior in the best way.


In the second set of MICAT questions, candidates were asked to give a rating on a scale of 1 to 6 for the responses in terms of their priority under a certain scenario. Around 8 to 10 questions were asked in the entrance exam.
