MICAT Placements 2019-20 – MICA records 100 percent placement, 67 percent increase in FMCG offers

MICA Ahmedabad has reported 100 percent placement consecutively for the second academic year in a row for its flagship programme PGDM-C. The institute has released the placement data for the year 2019 wherein a jump of 67 percent more offers have been recorded by the FMCG companies over the previous year. Furthermore the average cost to company (CTC) – international and domestic, has also witnessed a rise over the year 2018-19. According to the MICA placements report 2019, as many as 88 companies partnered with the institute for recruitment. Out of the batch of 179 candidates, all 179 have been offered a job from this course. Out of the total number of candidates, 53 percent selected candidates were male, while 47 percent have been female candidates. MICA Placements 2019

From the PGDM-C course, the highest cost to company or CTC (International) offered has been Rs. 58 lakh per annum, while domestically, the highest salary offered to a candidate is Rs. 32.8 lakh per year. The average CTC (International) has also witnessed a rise with the salary offer of Rs. 13.9 lakh/annum and domestic pay cheque of Rs. 12 lakh per annum.

Changing Trends – FMCG companies lead the way

The placement data brings in some new insights with FMCG companies leading the way. For 2019-20, FMCG firms offered 67 percent more jobs to the MICA students than the previous academic year. This means that more FMCG companies participated in the recruitment process at MICA with top companies like Britannia, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, HUL, Pidilite, MTR Foods marking their presence.

Though FMCG companies’ participation in terms of offering more jobs has been far better than last year, however, out of the total offers for 2019-20, the most number of job offers (37) have been made by E-commerce/IT/ITeS sector followed by Advertising sector with 28 offers. FMCD and Analytics, BFSI and Consulting sectors have seen 27 and 26 offers respectively. Furthermore, media and FMCG sectors made 24 and 20 offers respectively to the MICA students.

Not only FMCG companies made 67 percent more offers for academic year 2019-20, but companies belonging to the sector also offered the best average salary to the recruited candidates among all the other peer companies from the other sectors. The average CTC offered by the FMCG firms to the MICA students has been Rs. 21.7 lakh per year followed by E-commerce/IT/ITeS firms with average salaries of Rs. 15.8 lakh/annum. Among all the firms from all sectors that came for participating in the campus hiring process, advertising sector offered the least average package to the students (Rs. 10.6 lakh CTC).

According to the recruitment data 2019-20, the job offers were made to students without any experience to the students having an experience upto 4 years. As per the official data, 58 candidates (who were offered jobs) were freshers, while candidates having an experience of upto 6 months were 16 in numbers. Further, 40 candidates with an experience ranging from 7 months to 1 year were offered jobs and 31 candidates grabbing job offers had around 2 years of experience. The recruiting companies made jobs offers to 21 students having an experience of (25 to 36 months) and 10 were with an experience ranging from 37 to 48 months.

MICAT Syllabus  - Psychometric Test


Basically, this is a personality test and this section is different from other management entrance examinations. It is mandatory for the candidates to attempt all the questions in this section. Some of the important aspects related to the test are explained below.


In this section, the questions are designed to assess the candidates’ behavior which includes thinking ability, personality, strengths and weaknesses etc. Questions are based on career goals, life goals, situational judgement. Candidates should answer the questions with honesty and open mind


Multiple-choice questions are asked.


Duration allotted for the psychometric test is 25 minutes.


According to previous year sample papers, in the first set of questions, out of the three options candidates should select the option which describes their behavior in the best way.
