The Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2020 was conducted for the first time for admission to Film and Television Institute of India, based out in Pune and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. For academic session 2020, the first Joint Entrance Test (JET 2020) for the next round of selection was conducted by SRFTI on February 15 and February 16, 2020. Through entrance exam of FTII, candidates can get admissions in seven PG diploma programmes and four certificate courses offered by the institute. There are 72 students who will be selected for admission at SRFTI (postgraduate programme in Cinema) and 30 students for the postgraduate programme on Television.
Eligibility Criteria- The JET eligibility criteria includes the minimum marks which the candidates must score in the qualifying exams to be eligible to appear for the entrance exam. All those candidates who qualify JET, they will have to also meet the eligibility criteria of FTII and SRFTI.
Application Process- The application form for JET was available online from December 8, 2019 to January 31, 2020 for candidates who fulfil the specified eligibility criteria. For the application form, General/OBC-NCl candidate need to pay Rs. 4000 whereas candidate belonging SC/ST category will have to pay Rs. 1250.
Exam Pattern/Centres- The entrance exam of JET was held in the offline mode at 26 centres across the country. Candidates were expected to answer a total of 100 multiple choice questions within the time frame of 3 hours. There is no negative marking. JET exam pattern mentions the duration of the exam, total marks, medium, type of questions that will be asked in the entrance exam.
Admit Card- Candidates can download JET admit card from February 6 to 14.
Result/Selection Process- The candidates can check their JET result in last week of March 2020. The candidates who qualify the exam will sit in the selection process round which is based on an interview and a medical test. FTII offers a total of 72 seats across the seven PG programmes and 40 seats for certificate courses.
The CUCET Mass Communication is the common entrance test which is conducted jointly by ten central universities. The entrance exam is conducted for the Master degree in Mass communication under the aegis of Rajasthan's Central University. Out of the 10 participating institutes of CUCET 2020, Mass communication is offered only by 8 universities namely - Central University of Haryana, Central University of Jammu, Central University of Jharkhand, Central University of Kashmir, Central University of Karnataka, Central University of Punjab, Central University of Rajasthan, Central University of South Bihar and Central University of Tamil Nadu.
Eligibility Criteria- CUCET Mass Communication eligibility criteria have been defined separately by each of the participating universities. Candidates must, therefore, ensure that they meet the common eligibility criteria of CUCET 2020 Mass Comm along with the eligibility prescribed by the respective universities to which they are applying.
Application Process- The CUCET Mass Communication application form is available in an online mode only from March 16 to April 11, 2020. For CUCET mass communication application form candidates belonging to general category have to pay RS 850 whereas SC/ST candidates need to pay 400 for CUCET Application form.
Exam Pattern/Centres- CUCET Mass Communication is conducted in an offline mode. CUCET 2020 Mass Communication will be held on May 23 & 24, 2020. Candidates can download their admit card of CUCET 2020 Mass communication from May 11, 2020. In CUCET Mass Communication test candidates have to answer 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) within the duration of two hours which is divided into two parts. CUCET Mass 2020 Communication will be held in 76 centres across the country.
Result/Selection Process- The CUCET Mass Communication result will be declared in an online mode on June 8, where the candidates have to log in and enter their application ID along with the password. Though the CUCET Mass Communication entrance exam is common, the counselling and selection process is separate for each University.
Delhi University held the first DU DSJ (Delhi School of Journalism Entrance Exam) in September 2017. However, from 2020, DSJ will follow the admission process of Delhi University. By clearing the entrance exam of DU DSJ, candidates are eligible for the admission in five years integrated programme in Journalism. The programme offers Bachelor of Journalism and Master of Journalism to journalism aspirants. The Five Year Integrated Program has 28 Core Courses. Not only this, candidates have to choose one language either Bengali or Tamil and one foreign language (from French, Spanish, Chinese and Arabic). What needs to be noted is that candidates cannot choose their mother tongue as an option for regional/foreign language.
Eligibility Criteria- Candidates planning to apply for DU DSJ must have a passed 10 + 2 or equivalent from any recognized Board with a minimum of 50 % marks. Not only this, candidates must note that DU DSJ considers pass percentage of an aggregate of four subjects studied in Class 12. Apart from this, candidates must have studied one core language and three elective subjects. Candidates whose class 12 results are awaited can also apply for the exam.
Application Process- For DU DSJ entrance exam, candidates have to register in an online mode only. Candidates have to create their account and register themselves by using their email-id, password and mobile number. After successful registration, candidates need to re-login the account and fill the DU DSJ Application Form. Once candidates are done with the filling of application form of DU DSJ, candidates need to upload all the essential documents required by the university. For DU DSJ application form, candidates belonging to General and OBC category have to pay Rs. 500 whereas Rs. 250 have to be paid by SC and ST category students.
Exam Pattern/Centres- The DU DSJ entrance exam is conducted separately for English and Hindi medium students in an online mode only. The entrance exam tests the proficiency of students in analytical and comprehension skills along with general knowledge and current affairs. The entrance test of DU DSJ consists of MCQ of a total of 400 marks. It consists of 100 questions of 4 marks each. Every incorrect answer gets a negative marking of 1 mark. The course offers a total of 120 seats (English 60 and Hindi 60).
Result/Selection Process- The result of DU DSJ exam will appear in the online mode only along with the first admission list. Second and third admission list will be followed, as per the availability of seats. Candidates whose name appears in the admission list will have to visit DU Campus as suggested in the admission list for document verification.
The candidates who aspire to take admission in Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) have to qualify IIMC entrance exam. IIMC will conduct its entrance exam for various programmes in the fourth week of May 2020. The IIMC Entrance Exam will be held for admissions to Postgraduate Journalism and Communication programmes. The institute offers PG Diploma in Journalism in six languages, including English.
Eligibility Criteria- Graduates from any discipline can generally apply for the courses. The eligibility criteria of IIMC also includes the age criteria and marks which the candidates must score in their graduation to be eligible to appear in the exam.
Application Process- The IIMC application form is available in online and offline mode from the third week of March till the first week of May. Candidates can also get application form of IIMC in person or by post. For the application form, candidates belonging to General category have to pay Rs. 1500 whereas for candidates falling in Reserved Category have to Rs. 1000.
Exam Pattern/Centres- IIMC entrance exam is conducted in an offline mode where candidates are supposed to answer 5 questions in 2 hours. A total of 184 seats are offered across six campuses through the IIMC Entrance Exam.
Result/Selection Process- Candidates can check their IIMC Entrance Exam Result in online mode sometime between the second or third week of June 2020. Qualifying candidates will be selected on the basis of an interview or group discussion to be conducted during either in the last week of June or in the first week of July 2020 at New Delhi.
The Asian College of Journalism (ACJ), Chennai offers admissions to the PG Diploma in Journalism programme through the entrance exam of ACJ. The institute will conduct the ACJ 2020 entrance exam which will be held on May 17, 2020.
Application Process- Candidates can fetch the ACJ application forms both in offline and online mode, available from February to April 2020. For the application, candidates belonging to General Category have to pay Rs 1500.
Admit Card- The admit card of ACJ entrance exam 2020 will be available online for candidates to download from May 12 to May 15, 2020.
Exam Pattern/Centres- ACJ will conduct an ACJ 2020 exam at around 17 cities all over India. The ACJ entrance exam will be conducted in an online mode only. The exam is divided into two parts- Part A and Part B which will be conducted in two sessions. For Part A, candidates will be given 2 hours to complete 100 marks question paper. Whereas for Part B, which also consists of 100 marks, candidates will be given 90 minutes.
Result/Selection Process- Candidates who qualify in the ACJ entrance exam will be shortlisted and their names announced through the ACJ 2020 results. Qualified candidates will have to attend a personal interview before paying the admissions fees to confirm their admissions.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) exam for the aspirants who are willing to take admission in Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication (BJMC) programme.
Application Process- The application form of IPU CET BJMC 2020 is available in online mode from March 3 to March 31, 2020 in the online mode. For the application form, candidates of all categories need to pay Rs 1000. Candidates need to upload scanned images of their photograph, signature and left thumb impression along with the IPU CET BJMC application form 2020.
Exam Pattern/Centres- The university will conduct the IPU CET BJMC exam from April 25 to May 5, 2020. The university offers 600 plus seats for the BJMC programme in IP university along with its 12 affiliated institutes. Candidates need to appear for the IPU CET BJMC exam in Delhi only. Candidates will be given 2 hours 30 minutes to answer 150 MCQs types of questions. Every correct answer will gain 4 marks whereas -1 will be given to every incorrect answer.
Result/Selection Process- IPU CET BJMC Result will be declared in the fourth week of May 2020. Counselling will be online for IPU CET BJMC 2020 and will be held in two rounds followed by a spot round if needed. Counselling for the MAMC programme will, however, be offline and candidates have to attend the same in person.
XIC OET (XIC Online Entrance Test) is conducted by the Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) to shortlist candidates for the post-graduate diploma in mass communication and journalism programmes offered by the institute.
Application Process- The application process of XIC OET 2020 will start from the first week of April. The aspiring candidates have to fill the application form in the online mode. For the XIC OET application form, candidates of all categories need to pay the fee of Rs 3500. Not only this, while registering for the entrance exam candidates have to submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and a Portfolio which will be discussed during the personal interview rounds.
Admit Card- XIC OET admit card will be sent to the candidates on their registered email addresses.
Exam Pattern- The institute will conduct XIC OET 2020 tentatively in April or May 2020 in an online mode. XIC OET carries both subjective and objective types of questions. Candidates are given 90 minutes to complete the 150 marks entrance exam.
Result/Selection Process- The selection process for the XIC Online Entrance Test starts as soon as the test concludes at the same test centres. The concerned authority presents a list of the candidates who have secured minimum qualifying marks in XIC OET along with the list of candidates who have to appear in the interview rounds. The officials directly announce the final results for the admissions.

Exam Pattern/Centres- MU-OET 2020 will be held from April 17 to 26 in an online mode. It is a 2 hours entrance exam that consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQ). MU-OET is a 100 marks exam that is divided into Numeracy (20), Conceptual (25), General English (20), General Awareness (20) and Case Study (15).
Result/Selection Process- University shortlist the candidates on the basis of marks obtained in MU-OET. Manipal University will declare the list of candidates in the order of merit in the first week of May.
Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) conducts the SIMC entrance exam for the postgraduate programme in mass communication.
Eligibility Criteria- Candidate graduated from any recognised University/ Institution of National Importance with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes) could register themselves before January 3, 2020.
Application Process- The application form of SIMC MA (MC) entrance test could be filled online. Candidates had to pay RS 2500 as a registration fee.
Exam Pattern- SIMC MA (MC) 2020 phase 1 exam was conducted in computer-based mode on January 19, 2020. SIMC MA (MC) Entrance Test consists of objective type questions where each question has 4 responses.
Result- The result of SIMC MA (MC) entrance test 2020 was announced on January 24, 2020.
The Anwar Jamal Kidwai (AJK) Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), conducts the JMI Mass Communication Entrance Exam to get admissions in four MA (Mass Communication) and three PG diploma programmes offered by the university.
Eligibility Criteria- The authorities have specified the eligibility criteria for the JMI Mass Communication entrance exam. Any graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate will be eligible to apply for the JMI entrance exam.
Application Process- The application form of JMI entrance exam is available from February 21 to March 25 both in online and offline mode. Candidates of all categories have to pay Rs 700 for the JMI 2020 application form.
Exam Pattern/Centres- The JMI entrance exam 2020 will be conducted on June 1 and June 4, 2020 in an offline mode. Admissions to a total of 170 seats across the various programmes will be offered. The exam pattern for each of the tests will be different. The entrance exam of JMI consists of two parts - objective and subjective. Candidates will be given 180 minutes to complete the entrance exam.
Result/Selection Process- Candidates who have appeared for the entrance exam can check their JMI Mass Communication Result in an online mode only. Candidates who qualify will be required to attend a personal interview, group discussion and present their portfolio during the interview. Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts a common entrance test SET BA mass communication entrance exam for the journalism aspirants who want to take admission to its institute Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication (SCMC), Pune. SET BA Mass Comm 2020 will be conducted across 21 test centres across India. Candidates can select any one of the centres while registering for the test.
Result/Selection Process- The result of SET BA mass communication will be announced on May 12 in an online mode. Set BA mass communication result will consist of sectional and overall scores on the entrance test. To get shortlisted for admissions, candidates have to secure the minimum cutoff marks in the SET BA mass communication. After the candidate is shortlisted, he’ she has to follow the selection process, consisting of a writing test and personal interview. There are 120 seats for admissions offered by the institutes.
Christ University, Bengaluru offers both UG and PG programmes for candidates who are willing to take admission in Journalism courses. University offers three UG and one PG programme in Journalism. To take admission, candidates will have to clear Christ university journalism entrance exam. The Christ University Journalism entrance exam is conducted for admissions to the UG programmes like BA JP Eng-Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Journalism, Psychology, English; Bachelors of Honours in Journalism and BA CEP-Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication and Media, English and Psychology. To take admission in a PG programme which is a Master of Arts (MA) in Media and Communication Studies, candidates have to clear the MAMCS entrance exam conducted by Christ University.
Eligibility Criteria- Candidates must have a passed 10+2 from a recognized board from streams like humanities, social sciences, commerce & management, and sciences. Candidates who have studied from an International curriculum must have AIU approval with a grade more than ‘C’. For PG, Candidates applying for the MAMCS programme must have passed an undergraduate degree from a university recognized by UGC / AIU. They must have obtained at least a minimum 50% mark in their under graduation.
Application Process- The application form for Christ University Journalism entrance exam is available both in online and offline mode. However, candidates who have purchased the offline application form must fill the same online. Candidates have to send specified documents along with a copy of the application form of Christ University office (for BA and MA programme).
Exam Pattern/Centres- The entrance exam for Christ University is held in an offline mode. The Christ University BA CEP consists of multiple-choice questions where the correct answer gains one mark and each wrong is given -0.25 marks.
